About Us

Our Vision – Learn with Passion!

Instrumentation and Computing Engineering Laboratory (iCE Lab.) aims for safe and secure social environment by establishing new relationships of human-machine, machine-machine, and human-human based on knowledge of human senses and functions. We have been studying software and hard ware related to visual, auditory and somatosensory. We are using image signal as visual information through image processing and measurement, acoustic signal as auditory information for measurement and sound art, and physical measurement and expression by somatosensory. We are also conducting research and development on mobile robot and communication technology. Measurement technology indispensable for constructing these systems has dramatically advanced by applying microcomputer. However, sensing method and information processing must be selected by considering accuracy and speed required for the system. Furthermore, the way of approach differs depending on whether or not the system involves human. Therefore, we are focusing on an automatic measuring robot that automates inspection in a place where human intervention is difficult, and a measurement of face-to-face communication which human are constantly involved. Our objective is technological innovation of these research that return benefits to society.

project

First Person Media Technology

Our research on first person media technology is based on human senses such as vison, audio and taste. We measure communication in real time for wearable devices.

Practical Information Processing

We develop visual inspection system surface to find the cracks automatically and supporting system for hammering test for the concrete structures.

Embodied Multimedia Interface

We create new communication through the embodied multimedia interface which enable to control system by human gestures.

Robotics Applications

An automatic measuring robots realize inspection in a place where human intervention is difficult. We design safe and efficient robotics structures to support human activity in specific environment.
